Eine gemeinsame Definition und Terminologie gibt es weder in der Wissenschaft noch in der Politik. Ebenfalls h\u00e4ufig ist die Rede von klimawandelbedingter Vertreibung oder speziell in j\u00fcngerer Zeit auch von <strong>\u2192 klimawandelbedingter Mobilit\u00e4t<\/strong>. Umstritten bleibt es, Menschen, die durch den Klimawandel zur Migration gezwungen sind, als Klimafl\u00fcchtlinge zu bezeichnen, da sie keine <strong>\u2192 Fl\u00fcchtlinge<\/strong> im Sinne der geltenden Definition der <strong>\u2192 Genfer Fl\u00fcchtlingskonvention<\/strong> sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im Fokus der Forschung \u00fcber klimawandelbedingte Migration steht sowohl die Wirkung pl\u00f6tzlicher Extremwetterereignisse auf Migration und Mobilit\u00e4t (wie Wirbelst\u00fcrme oder \u00dcberschwemmungen infolge von Starkregen, s. auch <strong>\u2192 \u00dcberlebensmigration<\/strong>) als auch schleichender Prozesse, wie z. B. K\u00fcstenerosion und Bodenversalzung infolge des Meeresspiegelanstiegs oder Ernteausf\u00e4lle infolge wiederholter D\u00fcrren. Schwierig bleibt es, die Migration ausl\u00f6sende Wirkung von klimawandelbedingten Umweltver\u00e4nderungen gegen\u00fcber anderen individuellen wie auch gesellschaftlichen Triebfedern zu gewichten; diese sind grunds\u00e4tzlich eng verwoben. Umweltseitige Stressoren k\u00f6nnen aber bereits vorhandene soziale, \u00f6konomische und politische Stressoren verst\u00e4rken und damit auch einen neuen Migrationsdruck erzeugen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insgesamt findet klimawandelbedingte Migration bisher mehrheitlich innerstaatlich bzw. \u00fcber eher kurze Distanzen (z. B. ins Nachbarland) statt und nur selten \u00fcber Kontinente hinweg. Dabei erzeugt der menschengemachte Klimawandel nicht in erster Linie eine neue und klar abgrenzbare Wanderungsform, sondern er wirkt als Metafaktor insgesamt auf das Migrationsgeschehen und ver\u00e4ndert auch bestehende Migrationsmuster, z. B. der <strong>\u2192 Arbeitsmigration<\/strong>.
