This proportion is expected to rise further in the coming years. The political participation of this population group is therefore becoming increasingly important, both for an inclusive democratic process and for social cohesion. At the same time, however, studies show that people with a migration background are less likely to vote and are less politically active overall. A decisive factor here is trust in political institutions, which can change over the course of a person&#8217;s stay in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the SVR Integration Barometer 2024, the project examines the relationship between trust in institutions and political participation. Various forms of political engagement as well as individual and contextual conditions are analyzed. The aim is to better understand the conditions under which people with a migration background become politically active and the role that trust in state institutions plays in this
