Expert Advice on Migration and Integration
Non-Partisan Policy Advice
Germany is a country of immigration. Both policy making and everyday life will continue to be affected by the challenges associated with global migration and an increasingly diverse society. In response, the Expert Council provides research-based and actionable policy advice and actively shapes the public debate on integration and migration in Germany and beyond.
Each spring, the Expert Council releases its Annual Report, which assesses salient trends and challenges in migration and integration. Since its first issue in 2010, the Annual Report has served as a principal resource for evidence-based policy making and a more fact-oriented public debate.
Every two years the Expert Council releases the findings from SVR’s Integration Barometer, a representative survey which assesses the German public’s opinion on the integration of first and second generation migrants. The sample allows for an in-dept analysis of Barometer data by respondents’ country of origin, educational attainment and living situation.
